The Judge Selection Process
Step 1
Ever wonder who chooses the judges for our National Specialty? Members do.
Each DPCA member can nominate one judge for Conformation and one for Futurity/Sweepstakes.
On March 1, all members get a nomination form by email or U.S. Mail. Nominations close March 21.
Step 2
After nominations close, the Judge Nomination Committee steps in.
They check eligibility, contact nominees, and confirm their willingness to serve.
Step 3
On April 10, the voting begins.
Members receive a ballot (email or mail), and vote for their preferred judges.
Voting closes April 30.
Step 4
After the ballots are counted, judges are selected by number of votes received.
Top vote-getters choose their assignment.
Same for Futurity/Sweepstakes judges – ranked by vote total.
